    Quick one.
It start's up with Windows XP. Is it really neccassary? I have never used it (played around with it yeah), I'm happy with the colours as it is for everything - games, movies, etc. so you think it's worthwhile disabling it from my startup like I disabled all the other bloatware?

An opionon or 2 would be appreciated. Do you have it on your startup and do you really use it?

    Cheers :)

Its not necessary. I like it though. Theres really no utility exactly like it that alters the settings of contrast etc in response to battery state
Brightness yes but the other settings no.

I use power4gear and splendid I like them.

I don't see it eating up too many resources so I let it be. It's always fun to see it say "theater mode" when I'm about to watch a movie. :p

Haha, well, the Splendid modes don't have effect if you go into fullscreenmode. Try it yourself :)

Splendid isn't required. But, as Stamar said, it kind of handles screen brightness and resolution (and some gamma correction) very well. I uninstalled it at first, then reinstalled it. It seems to give my screen more depth than manually adjusting brightness and contrast.

And it seems to work independently of Catalyst (as the Fn keys for brightness work independently of everything). I'm not sure how these all fit together, actually, but Splendid does seem to do a good job of handling everything for standard desktop applications very well.

I don't find anything special about it, so I just disabled it from starting up. It's still installed in case I ever change my mind.

It most certainly does - I've done it dozens of times. It's likely that whatever program you were using in full screen maintained the top layer and hid the little icon which shows a change in mode.

Strange, I've watched alot of movies but it never showed that?

I watch avi format via Divx player. Does "theater mode" only show when you play DVDs? Come to think of it, I have my G1 over 6 weeks now and never watched a DVD movie, yet!
