So I bought the U31 laptop in December as a temporary measure for school while my then-3-month-old N53-SN1 seems to be perpetually in transit to/from the RMA department. I figured that with such bad luck on my first Asus purchase, there's no way Asus is such a deteriorating brand that I'll get two lemons back to back.

Oh but I did. Fortunately no bluescreen. Instead, I don't get to browse folders on any harddrive (including USB) without the "Windows explorer is shutting down" sequence happening within 10-60 seconds. Like with most windows problems, there seems to be an infinite number of potential causes and an infinite number of potential solutions, and I tried a few without success. I couldn't afford the hundreds of hours likely required to deal with this BS, so I resorted to browsing for my files as quick as possible.

But now it's really getting in the way of my work, so please someone save me from going insane.
