    Hello,

I have an Asus U33JC laptop and have a problem.
I had a problem with a program that was causing issues on the system and decided to restore the system with an image created prior to the install.

To cut a long story shot, the system will not boot up and goes into startup recovery which then reports it was unsucessful.
If I try to do an Asus Recovery by pressing F9, I get an black screen on boot up with a message 'Missing Operaiting System'.
I have tried to install Windows 7 using an external DVD reader but it doesnt allow it.

So, is there a way to get around this by obtaining an Asus recovery or am I able to remove & change the existing hard drive and install Windows 7 on that?
    Would that break my warranty?

Your help on this would be appreciated, thanks!

Try posting this question in the most excellent Owner's lounge...I just received mine and haven't had time to mess with it but it sounds like the mbr may have been damaged or there are some boot files missing...

I'm not sure why reinstalling from a genuine windows 7 or recovery dvd wouldn't work. You can select the boot device with F8 or hitting ESC a few times after turning on the computer.

Anything concerning software won't void your warranty, unless you're talking about software that affects the hardware, like voltage or overclocking, etc.
