Depends on what you're trying to achieve and how much cash you have. Would I rather have had the optimus? Absolutely. Unfortunately this laptop was already at the top end of my range. The only way to get optimus would have been to go back a generation in CPU.

Since I have a really awesome desktop for gaming I decided Optimus was unnecessary. That left me to decide between the 12 and 13 inch screen models. Much of what I do on a laptop still requires a lot of CPU and ram. I frequently use virtual machines and do a bit of number crunching. This model had the highest level CPU and 4 gig ram already installed + larger hard drive. I could easily upgrade ram and hard drive later but don't have the money to do so anytime soon.

Still waiting on delivery. I'll try to do a decent review of it when it arrives.

Which UL30 are you comparing with the U35f? UL30A (integrated graphics) or UL30VT (Nvidia 210M switchable graphics)?
If you're comparing the UL30A, then there's no doubt the U35f is the better spec'ed system, primarily due to the newer and faster i3-370M CPU. Graphical power-wise, the UL30VT will be better because of the dedicated graphics while the U35F only has integrated graphics.

yeah spec-wise the U35 is the updated model of the U series but Id really like to know if its able to match up the battery life the UL30-A2 was able to achieve which was close to 10-11 hours.
