    Asus U36JC clean install and battery life

    I have a Asus U36JC and used it with the factory installed Windows for about 10 months. A few weeks back I decided to clean install Windows.

    Previously, my U36 would have excellent battery life, with the battery stats at about 97-100% mentioning about 8-10 hours remiaining. OBviously, it is not accurate, however, I could sense the battery life of it was quite high..

    I reinstalled Windows, the ATK package, Power4Gear Hybrid, Ai Charger and a few other drivers (not all)..

    I just get the feeling that my laptop doesnt have the same battery life it used to..After being on for about 4 hours, with about 2 hours on sleep, I'm down to 27% and 1.5 hours remaining, which is a bit low for this laptop.

    anyone else face this problems? and any solutions?

    Depends on what you were doing for the 4 hours you had it on, and how bright the screen was.

    Doing anything more that WP or simple web browsing (no flash videos), then 75% of battery over 4 hours is probably a reasonable result and there is no problem.

    I felt that way too with my battery life after a clean install (even my room mate with his U36SD), but I believe it might be all in the head. At full charge (97%), mine says around 7hrs 10min on 50% brightness web browsing. On idle, I would imagine it would be around 9hrs. These are just based on battery indicator and are constant values.

    Only true testing will prove whether your battery life is less now than before though. Just like ClearSkies said, depending on your activity and screen brightness level, battery drain may vary. Try to idle your laptop and see what you get. Try watching a 720p/1080p movie and see what you get. Maybe leave it on and time it until it shuts down to see some results.

    May be it is in my head, but I remember that prior to the clean install, it seemed better.. I've installed all the drivers and required packages. so i guess i'll have to wait and see.

    i'm on 90% now, with chrome open, word, foxit pdf and firefox open and it says 4 hrs.will try closing some programs and see what happens.
