Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting the Asus U41SV, it ticks almost all the right boxes for me and I'm really surprised at how few reviews or discussions are out there about this laptop - not to mention hype.
For USD1,177 you get:
14" thin and light (1" thick, 2kg)
Aluminium build
10 hour battery life (shorter in real life but still impressive)
i5 sandy bridge
500GB 7200rpm
nVidia GT540 2GB (selling point for me)
and the other usual components......
Is there a better alternative?

The U41SV isn't coming to the USA, I'm not sure if it's coming out in other markets. Check out the U46. There is also a U42SD listed on the asus support site but I have no idea what it is.

Oh lame... but you can order from Taiwan pchome which ships globally and it translates to USD1,177.
The U46 looks awesome but I doubt there is a dedicated GPU in that slim chassis - not to mention something like a GT540m. U42sd remains a mystery indeed.... -

Yeah it's supposed to have a 520m. It's pretty much like the u36sd except bigger... I think. The model # is u46sv-a1

Available at this site:
Asus U41SV (i5-2410M, W7HP) Notebook Computer Malaysia
Roughly $965 + $10 shipping to countries outside Malaysia. Not really sure if you have to pay duty or taxes, but my guess would no if for personal use.
I also saw a few available at pchome. They actually have a U41sv with the 2gb 540M, for around $1115 (if my conversion is correct) + shipping costs.
