I own an Asus U43F-BBA6 and the hinges on the LCD display are quite loose and it's starting to cause some trouble with opening and closing it. I want to fix this before it becomes a major problem, but I can't figure out how to get to said hinges. If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm assuming you got a refurb with no warranty. Otherwise you should send it in to ASUS. See the sticky RMA & warranty guide.

You would need to get the screen bezel off. Then you can use a wrench to tighten the nuts on the bezel.

From the pics I found from a quick search, there are two screws on either side of the top of the lid under the round rubber bumpers. These bumpers come off with some force, if you use a razor you can usually get underneath them and save enough of the adhesive to reapply them. Here's an example I posted, scroll down to 'screen disassembly': http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/569879-asus-u80v-partial-disassembly-pics.html

I'm not sure where the screws are on the bottom as I didn't see any round bumpers there. If you find some detailed pics of the lower screen bezel maybe I can tell you where they are.

In any event, screen bezels are *extremely* fragile, bend, warp, and crack very easily. After you are certain you have all of the screws off, you pry it away from the lid. You want to use an expired credit card or a medium/heavy guitar pick to work your way around the screen to pry it open extremely gently by prying from a corner and then moving to another corner.

Thank you so much for the help! Yeah, I didn't get a warranty. And I can show you a detailed picture of the laptop, but I can see where the bumpers are. If I don't think I can do it myself then I'm going to take it to a place around here that can do it, I just didn't want to go through the trouble if I can do it myself. Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it.
