Thanks. This will certainly be useful to some. Will add to Info Booth at the 1st edit.

Added to Info Booth, thanks.

. You need to be a rocket scientist to put it back
.
-
Hardly.
Just remember what you did; write it down and take pictures if needed. Also make sure not to mix up the screw types.
Other than that, it's just following the pictures in reverse. I did it with my M6BNe, no problems. I doubt other notebooks are significantly more difficult (smaller notebooks, maybe a bit more difficult). -
ATM my U6 works and I don't let anyone touch it. Apart from the RAM upgrade, which I did with my fingers crossed because this lappy has a mind of its own
, nobody will touch the screws on this baby
.

anyone know modem module is WWAN or 56k modem ?
-
I believe the U6 uses WWAN. There's a sim card slot behind the battery and it works as long as you have a paid plan from your local cellular service provider.

picture 2-15
no 8 near red arrow is mini PCIe and no 9 i think is modem 56k module
david do u have orginal file ? can u give me
i want to see chip infomation. my Asus u6v don't have this module -
Your best bet is to contact the Asus estore and ask if they have the modem for the U6. It's not listed on the website, but if you call them, they could help you locate it.

thx David
how can i find other asus disassembly guide
i have w5a i need change wireless card but i don't know to
it hard than u6v -
An easier and cheaper means of getting wifi back on your W5a is to purchase a PCMCIA wifi card on ebay for ~$12. -
Hi David, I was wondering if you could help me with a sound card problem. I just got my u6 back from ASUS repairs but the sound card seems to be missing, I think they might've forgotten to reattach it after they replaced the top and bottom case. From your pictures, it seems like if I wanted to take a look at the connector, all I would have to do is lift the keyboard off right?

OMG YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW DAVID. I followed your instructions, took off the keyboard, pressed down on the motherboard-soundcard connector, it popped into place, and now I have soooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnd!! Thanks so much! I live in New York so it would've been unbearable to send my laptop back for repair right after I've gotten it back, but your guide saved me. Thanks again.
