Read this ( I read this somewhere on the internet and I want from you to see it)
it seems that flickering with nVidia GeForce cards is common problem with Vista

and look here " If your external monitor has flicker with this laptop, use HDMI connector, flicker will go away. I think any cable for HDMI connection on flat TVs will do the job. I am using HP W2207 monitor and I solved the flicker problem by using such cable "

Problem is, Wishmaker wants to use the laptop for presentations. I'm not sure how many beamers have HDMI input...

Where I work we use the normal VGA cable and if you have DVI you need a converter. I saw beamers with HDMI but their price is not attractive and you cannot justify an investment like that yet. The problem is that I was forced to get a new laptop due to my leave abroad. As I said, I will be doing more than a few slide shows from september to december and I needed this U6 to work. As much as I love the U6, it is more comfortable to hook it up to an external screen, plug in your wi-fi keyboard and mouse and edit things. Both my external screens have VGA and DVI. I have no HDMI :(.

Slightly OT, but does anyone have any recommendations as to which nvidia driver version to use for the best performance? I'm currently using whatever came with the laptop...

With my extensive driver experience I can tell you that most drivers from laptop2go give performance in one area but fail in other areas. 174.6* and above fail to play 1080p films properly. The U6 lags, sound and image out of sync, etc. I used the latest drivers from the Asus website.

It has been some time since I posted here. I will add another section to my personal review:

    Asus HOLLAND Technical Support Experience

Asus confirmed that my laptop arrived on the 19th of june. They had a look at it and they said they need to order parts, the motherboard and the Optical Drive. They told me that it will take one week tops and I will have the laptop in no time. After a week and a half I called Asus and asked what was going on. The guy on the phone took ages to find my laptop. He found it and said that they are still waiting for parts. He said they will arrive in max two days. After 5 days, I decided to give them a call. The guy said my laptop is waiting for parts. They have no idea when they will arrive or when they will send the laptop. I asked to speak with the manager then. He did not want to pass the manager on saying there is nothing he can do. After 5 minutes of arguing I spoke to the manager. He was clueless. Had no idea what was going on. Today, I rang them again. At 09:00 am, I spoke to some keyboard pusher and he said my laptop is not fixed because the parts have not arrived. I asked to talk to the manager because I want my money back or a brand new one. He refused by saying he was not in his office. I rang them now, and spoke to another keyboard pusher and he said that the laptop will be fixed sometime soon. When I asked what that means he had no idea. I asked for the manager and I spoke to him. After 10 minutes of arguing 50 euro cents / minute, I insisted on a refund or a replacement and the manager said that the parts have arrived and my laptop will be fixed latest tomorrow and I will get it, worst case scenario, friday.

I ask you, is this a blatant lie or not? 4 keyboard pushers check the stock and say no parts have arrived and the manager says the opposite.

Wish - the customer service treatment you've had is simply unacceptable. If you can be bothered, you could consider also posting on the official Asus U6Sg forums and perhaps mention the names of the people you spoke to on the phone.
