    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a replacement for my current laptop and I think I've settled on the U6. Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on this laptop?

    Thanks

Before buying Asus, where do you live? If in the US, go for it. If in Europe, may God have mercy on your soul :p.

For perspective, since Wishmaker hasn't added this in his comments -----

The major issues with Asus service problems are concentrated in Europe/UK, and a little bit also in Asia.

US tech support/warranty service has received consistently good reviews and experience as reported by forum members over the past few years, and you'll get great after-purchase support from the major resellers of Asus' products who frequent the forum here (BTOTech/Geared2Play, GenTechPC, XoticPC, ExcaliberPC).

The U6 series is a great little laptop. However, the U6V-A1 is no longer available and is replaced by the U6Vc-A1. It's essentially the same with a slightly better processor and better webcam.
Since you're in the US, you shouldn't worry about customer service issues. Like Clearskies said, poor customer service is usually found in Europe.
