    Hey there,

I've just been able to find a single UL50Vt German model with matte screen, so far (but with the German keyboard, of course).

Does anybody know which submodels do have the matte screen, and where to find them?? (13.3" to 15.6" will do, just want the matte glory!)

    Thanks a lot.

Difficult to find, matte screen these days. I also like them but the general public's love affair with shiny stuff is crushing us, the minority. :)

Why not get that German-keyboard model and swap a US keyboard in it? ASUS eStore may have the US keyboard.

There's also the UL30A (silver) with matte screen available in Germany.

True dat! The idea of swapping the German keyboard is a good one, although I would have to: buy the notebook in Germany (and purchase it in a language I don´t speak), then deal with a foreign's country warranty that may or may not be valid in my own country; then buy the keyboard in another different country (the US). Then pay for both plus shipping plus taxes. Then pray to baby Jesus I´m capable of reinstalling that new keyboard without breaking the new machine and/or screwing with my unintelligible German warranty. Not sure if I like the computer that much... :D I appreciate the idea, though.

Same problem as above, it´s good to know that the UL30 is also available in matte. Do you happen to know the exact model of it?

    Thank you both

2Andario: Switching keyboards is somewhat tricky, but it is a matter of 30 seconds. Some guys are making backlit modification and they showed how to take off the keyboard on this forum already.

Also, your warranty should be global. Not only limited to Germany, even tho you buy it there. Make some research tho!

There's one with 320GB HDD, 4GB RAM and Win7 Premium 64bit for around 650€ (UL30A-QO229V) and another one with 250GB HDD, 2GB RAM and Win7 Professional 64bit for around 620€ (UL30A-QO228X). Both with the SU7300, integrated X4500HD, 8-cell battery and in silver.

    Thanks for the answers, guys.

I noticed that the new replacements, whatever their name are (UJ series??) do offer the matte screen, paired with the i3/i5 and still keeping a very decent battery life, so I´ll just wait and avoid all the hassle (and with a keyboard in my own language, too).

Thanks for the help, see you around.

Yeah, the PL30VT is the right one.
