I am going to write a guide on how to replace the screen on my UL30A-A2 notebook. This guide should be effective for all the UL30 models though.
Things to note:
It was an extremely easy process. This was my first time ever working on a notebook hardware replacement. Only tool I used was a knife, though a screwdriver would have probably been a better choice.
I accidentally stepped and broke my screen:

Peel the top 4 buttons back, and the 2 bottom stickers back to reveal 6 screws.

The top 4 buttons can be removed with your fingers. This is a picture of one of the top buttons.

The bottom 2 stickers will probably need something with a finer edge. This is a picture of the bottom left corner.

Here is a picture of one of the 6 screws.

Once all 6 screws have been removed, you can simply pop the frame off. Youll hear some clicking when you start popping the frame off. This is a picture of the top portion of the frame.

Once you get the top portion popped off, simply pop the bottom off and lift it upwards.
Here is a picture of the frame removed:
Note: It is advisable to remove the battery prior to removing the frame. It’ll probably make the next few steps easier, as well.
You can see that there is nothing visible from the front holding the screen in place. However, once you flip the screen forward onto the keyboard, you will see the magnets that help keep the screen in position (circled in yellow).
Note: Any bar codes or serial numbers have been deleted from the picture.
At this point, the only thing attaching the screen to the notebook is the connecting pin and wire (circled in yellow):
Note: There is a piece of tape over the pin that can be used to help remove the pin. If not used, remember to lift the tape up, or else it will hinder the pin disconnection.
Pic of the removal of the connecting pin:
You are now free to remove the old screen from the notebook as it is no longer attached. Go ahead and place the new screen on the notebook and reattach the connecting pin, as pictured above.
Here is how the connecting pin should look, when connected:
-
Once the connecting pin is reattached, prop the new screen back into place on the magnets. It should look like this:
Pop the frame back into place:
Put the screws back into place, and you are done!

Final thoughts:
Total time was just under an hour, but that was because I was pausing to take lots of pictures. It easily could have been completed in less than thirty minutes.
In case anyone was wondering, I bought the replacement screen from www.laptopscreen.com. It was around $60 or so shipped. I opted for the matte screen over the original glossy version (hate the reflections/glare). I received the new screen within a week, packed in a box marked as fragile. Inside was a well wrapped envelope containing the screen.
I’ll be glad to answer any questions. Hope this guide helps somebody! -
And yes, I am running Windows 8 on the notebook and it has been working pretty well. I'll be glad to answer any questions related to that, as well.

Does the trackpad support windows 8 gestures, if yes, did you need a special driver and from where did you get it. -
