Randomly searching on Amazon today, I came across this:
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-UL30A-X2...GE5Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1250123596&sr=8-2
which is apparently the Asus UL30A. Surprise surprise, it's a 13 inch thin and light built around a CULV processor. A bigger surprise, it has a SU3500, which the site says gets 9+ hours of battery life (hmm, how long did the Timelines get?).
I briefly googled the UL30A, and didn't come up with much: not even a single review or preview on an English site... maybe I wasn't looking hard enough
Still, I find it strange that almost every tech website mentioned the Asus P30A (which, I'd prefer over this), and to a lesser extent the U80V, how come most of the internet doesn't know about the UL30A?
Oh well, I just received my Acer Timeline today,, I'm not exactly in the market anymore
Thoughts? Comments?

Wow, this looks incredible. Anyone have any idea when the release date will be? Is there any chance it'd hit by the beginning of September, or is that too optimistic?
I need to get a new thin and light by mid Sept, and this looks perfect ; far sleeker than the Acer Timeline, incredible battery life, and (if the UL30A listing at http://event.asus.com/2009/windows7/ is referring to this model) eligible for the free Windows 7 upgrade...
Can't find any mention of the model on the Asus website though (excepting that windows 7 eligibility list). -
Hi,
where avaiable is the SU9400 version please ? -
There's also a cheaper version available from Newegg

I was looking at the P30A as well but Asus has really let me down. I can't keep waiting for them to release the computers I want.

Would love to see an SU9400 version of it unless ASUS is waiting to release the rest with the new Intel CULV parts that coincides with Windows 7 release in October...
Cheers,

I spotted this on newegg a little while back and I thought they made a typo for the manufacturer, it looks and sounds just like the AS3810t. I definitely would prefer an Asus over an Acer so I might just have to hit this up.

Darn it, and I thought it was a UX-30 with the brushed aluminum.

UL30A is also with brushed aluminium. Google UL30 (without 'A') and get a lot asian websites with real life photos.
I'd prefer UX30, but 3-cell battery only isn't nice at all.
Asus UL30A-X2 appears on Amazon (pre-order)
