Starcraft 2 beta is practically unplayable on my Dell XPS M1330. With all graphics settings on low - I start off the game at 54 fps and crawls to about 1 fps after 5-10 minutes when playing 2v2.

I wasn't on planning on getting a new laptop until beginning of next year. But the game will be out soon, hopefully this summer. My budget is $800 max (it's low, i know).

The Asus UL30VT-A1 falls within my budget and form factor.

The $800 dollar question: HOW DOES IT PLAY STARCRAFT 2?

Any beta users have any experience they like they share?

(Note: I am aware 13 inch laptops are not ideal for gaming. I am also aware that the i3, i5, and i7's are due out this summer.)

Thanks. I saw the video before but want to confirm with a few other people before making the commitment.

It looks smooth from the video. No fps count though. I wasn't sure if he was playing 2vs2 or 1v1 from the video. I am wondering how well it runs 2v2 on medium settings in large battles also. Unfortunately there's no way of knowing how it does 4vs4 since it is not enabled.

This article makes me thinking the UL30VT may struggle in certain situations: StarCraft II Beta: Game Performance Analyzed : Same Interface, Different Strategies

I would probably invest a little more toward the U30JC with i3 cpu. From the article you posted,

    Or even a N82JV with i7-620m :)

I was thinking the same thing. But the U30JC is unfortunately a tad bulkier. I really like the form factor of the UL30VT.

You think O/C the UL30VT may cause it to overheat? The other thread showed some nice o/c results for the ULV processor.

I think he might be playing offline. It wont be doing mid-high online. My girlfriends ul50vt constantly drops to sub 15 online on mid. I think the CPU is the bottleneck since mid-high plays decently offline.
