    Hi Frens,

    1. I want to buy the Asus UL30A or Asus UL30Vt.

    2. However i want to buy it with the 4 cells: 2200 mAh Battery.

    3. According to their product website the total weight of the laptop with the 4 cells: 2200 mAh Battery is 1.5 kgs.

    http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=57XDSj2LxRg41F0d

    4. I've not been able to find this laptop anywhere including amazon.com, buy.com etc with the 4 cells: 2200 mAh Battery.

    5. Could someone guide me as to what is the model no. and where i could find this laptop with the 4 cells: 2200 mAh Battery...???

    Thanks in Anticipation.

    Rana

The UL30VT-A1 specifically and exclusively comes with the bigger battery, that's one of things that distinguishes it from other models. I guess to get the smaller battery you could order the battery from ASUS or try to get one from eBay, etc.

There is no UL30Vt model with a 2200mAh battery.

There is the UL30Vt-X1 with a 4400mAh battery and the UL30Vt-A1 with a 5800mAh battery.

    tallan & synaesthetic,

thanks for your reply.. However if you visit the webpage for both the Ul30A & the Ul30Vt given below....

    http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=8CwAK6XZ0pekc7aI

    &

    http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=57XDSj2LxRg41F0d

You will find under the "Specifications" Tab that Asus mentions three Battery model for both the laptops.

    1. Battery Pack & Life 4 cells: 2200 mAh
    8 cells: 4400/5600 mAh

    & also the weight

    2. Dimension & Weight 32.2 x 23.3 x 1.48~2.46 cm (W x D x H)
1.50 kg (with 4 cell battery)

tallan... If the Website mentions a product with a 4 cell battery and also mentions 1.5 kgs weight with it then why would i have to order a 4 cell battery from Asus or from eBay...???

Shouldn't there be a Model which has the 4 cell battery "factory fit" for some one who wants to carry around 1.5 kgs instead of the 1.7 kgs of the 8 cell battery...???

synaesthetic.... i want to get the Ul30vt however if i could get the Ul30A with the 4 cell battery then i can go for that too. If its Ul30 Vt then great however if its the Ul30 A then thats great too.

So if someone actually has information for the Model no. for either the Ul30A or the Ul30Vt with the 4 cell battery please kindly let me know...

    Thanks

    Rana

The UL30VT models - both X1 and A1 - feature switchable discrete graphics cards (nVidia 210M) as well as the stock Intel 4500GMA with shared memory. For this reason as "long battery life" computers they are fitted with large batteries. The other models without the discrete graphics may offer smaller batteries in their base configurations; I haven't followed them. But the bottom line is if you want a VT model you'll need to buy the smaller battery aftermarket somewhere.

The smaller battery doesn't come stock with any of the UL30 variants. You have to buy it separately from Asus, at least in the US.

I am also looking for a 4-cell for the ul30vt if its out there or where can I buy the 4-cell battery. I don't exactly need a really long battery life so I'd like to get a 4-cell.

i don't know about the vt, but read this article on the ul30jt.. this link says it will have a 4 sell battery link

says the 4 sell is 1.5kg, and the 8 cell is 1.7kg. personally, i think the difference of .2 kg (.4 lbs) is not worth giving up the 5ish hours of battery life.
