Am using nvidia gpu state viewer to see if its activate. And it always shows as "Off"

Is there a way i can manually activate/ disable it?

I am getting slow FPS on games such as Combat arms 0.0 (low specs game)

Any other drivers I can try other than the latest (08/2010) asus drivers?
    Nvidia optimus is lame.

funny you should say, im having what sounds like same issue with my ul80vt.

i havnt updated anything yet. but in an FPS game i play, i usually get 90fps on dedicted, then when i switch to the igp i get 30-40fps. now often when im on high performance, it usually stays between 90-95. sometimes however it will go 30-100 within a second fluctuating. its almost as if its swapping between the two. in other words selecting high performance does not seem to be keeping it at dedicated GPU.
