Okay everyone, I figured I'd post this since I've searched and haven't found much. So last night, I was copying stuff from my portable HD onto the UL80VT, and it randomly rebooted itself into "Windows System Recovery." It'd say Windows did not completely shut down properly or something like that.

Then tonight, just about 30 mins ago, it did the same thing. I wasn't doing much of anything, just browsing a sports forum. It doesn't BSOD or anything, it's just go dark the screen, then pop-up into the old school DOS looking screen and says Windows System Recovery. Then I have to scroll to start Windows Normally.

Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions? Only thing I can perhaps think of is the overclock on the Turbo 33. I have not overclocked it myself or anything. Just the standard Turbo is on. Because in the past when I overclocked something too much, the computer would sometimes randomly reboot. Any suggestions, ideas, or whatnot, would be helpful. My main problem is I have no way to even replicate it, it's quite random. I have updated everything with Windows, as well as all the Atheros updates and whatnot.

    Hey Jonathan...
I have this exact same problem.
Have you had any luck solving it??? I've tried so many different things including reinstalling the OS without any luck.

    Thanks...

Have you tried turning off turbo to see if that does away with the reboots?

Have you monitored temps?(pick up HWmonitor and post the temps after a normal period of use for you) Does it do the same thing for you if you are on Battery as well as on AC power?

Are there any other messages that come up for you when the computer restarts?

Is it only when you are transferring data or installing something?

Let me know the answers to those questions. I would guess that over the next week if this happens to you even a few more times I would suggest contacting Asus or your reseller for an RMA.

    Good luck,

    Joseph L
