Asus site still says 20 hourse till release. Are they releasing it at midnight? It's the 11th Asus, how about some firm information?

Maybe right away? The same story with all the secrecy, NDAs and stuff was there with Nvidia 580m cards. Nobody new anything and one day they just appeared... read to be installed and shipped.

The countdown says 17:45 still, that would make it the 12th in NY.

Damn it, whoever made this countdown sucks. Why can't they just be direct and say when the heck it is supposed to be released and in addition have the countdown. ugh.

Does anyone know where the best (fastest) place to buy one of these is likely going to be?
    EDIT: In the U.S.

10h 14 min to go here right in this moment. CEST (Central European Summer Time, UTC+2) timezone here.

    Amazon.* ? Talking Europe.

I can see UX31 already listed in a german price-search engine but no offers/prizes are there so far. That's NDA in action I guess.

    Edit: Oh, there's already a price for UX 21 -> http://geizhals.at/eu/685800
    Core i5-2467M 2x 1.60GHz ULV • 4096MB • 128GB SSD = 865.19 GP = 995,73 EUR

    Asus UX31E-DH52 Ultrabook Computer 13.3" | eBay

i bought HP Touchpad from their own website and no problems at all (just if anyone's asking if they're reliable)

but 1250 USD for i5 is way too much.

btw, why do they say: ZENBOOK™ UX31E-DH52 ?

what's zenbook? the title says asus anyway.

1600x900 display, 17W TDP processors. Is this the first time anything other than 13" and "up to a Core i7" has been released? So far, it's shaping up to be very good! I can't wait for the guinea pigs..ermm, I mean.. the REVIEWS! :D

Says they are ready to go on sale tomorrow. Wonder where. This is where Apple does things right. Hypes people up, and then lets them get the new toys quickly and easily right away.

1600x900 for $1099 is pretty good considering that's $200 below an MBA.

I would take the UX31 over the other 13" ubooks based on resolution alone.

I'm personally looking forward to getting one of these. :D

Intel HD 3000 is graphics that are processed on the CPU. It was the big thing about Sandy Bridge. They're okay graphics.

The specifications look decent. The price is $100 higher than I had hoped. It will all come down to the quality of the display. Anyone see specifications on the display yet, as far as brightness (nits), contrast and color gamut?

If they're really available tomorrow, we should have the answer to that soon.

That's prolly because of the localized qwerz keyboard. I bet you can order sooner from e.g. some british shop, but with qwerty (us international) keyboard.

    We should...
There are quotes that the brightness is supposed to be up to 400 cd/sqm. I am curious if this is true... I hope the colours will be great as well...

I need a QWERTZ... yep... QWERTY sooner as always :(

the DH72 is $1000+ less than the vaio Z I was looking at... maybe this is a better buy

Usually the reviews are already done before launching the product and the only reason why reviewers don't publish it before is because of a NDA

this is what I needed to know.

UK: With both laptops available to order from 21 October at Currys, PC World, Comet and Amazon...

just $1099 vs. £999 ($1574) for the same model is "a bit" unfair.

(that's why I bought my last laptop in the US)

All of the "first impression" articles seem to be re-writes of the Asus press package. No word on the display quality yet. PCMag claims to have spent serious hands on time with the UX31, so you think they would have turned the display on ... no?

XoticPC is listing them for $50 over base MSRP price ($16 over on a cash deal). Custom Laptops, Gaming Notebooks, Custom Gaming Laptops | XOTIC PC They have no idea when they'll have them in stock ready to ship. It would be nice to have one repasted with IC Diamond 7 from the Asus dealer. It would also be nice to have someone help with Asus abysmal service here in the US.

New egg lists the UX31 as having a 720p display. That is clearly an error - right?

    So, anybody order one yet?
