I cannot power on the laptop (UX31A) without having the charger plugged in. If I pull the charger at any point, the laptop just powers off. Also, the power status indicator says it is charging but the % never moves past 35%.

What can I do at this point? I want to fix the issue so that I'm not tethered to the charger all the time.
I've tried powering it off without the charger plugged in and holding down the power button for a minute. It doesn't work.

Thank you, and any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like either the battery or some other circuitry on the mainboard is bad. It's best you send it in while it's under warranty; at this point, there's not a lot you can do to troubleshoot the hardware.

Ah I see. The frustrating thing is that it does turn on when on battery every once in a while, but then just ends up not working again. If I opened up the bottom to take a look at the battery and other connections, would that void the warranty?
I saw a user YouTube video about a loose keyboard connection and was wondering if that could be the problem/fix.

You will definitely void the warranty; I don't even like to condone DIY fixes after warranty, but as long as you're careful, you can save a lot of money in doing so.

If you're still covered, however, send it in to them. It would be better to have them take care of you than it would be for you to attempt the fix and risk not being able to resolve it, or making matters worse, and then killing the warranty on top of that!

If I'm just taking a look at the opened bottom, there would be no evidence of it being opened, though, no? The video I saw said there were no "void if removed" stickers if just removing the bottom cover.

Entirely your call. I haven't personally opened one up, so I don't know whether they did or didn't take any visible measures to notify them of such. It's a risk, is all I can say. :)
