    Hi All,

I have the Asus UX31A-DH51 and am noticing choppiness in youtube videos when running on battery, only using Firefox (IE is fine).

Has anybody else noticed this and/or know of a fix for this? I've tried looking at the intel hd 4000 display settings as well as power settings in control panel, but cannot find any relevant items.

    Thanks All!

    Hello,

Try HIGH PERFORMANCE mode when you are using your battery, you wont notice any lagg.

    It's a power management problem.

You can also keep you computer on ENTERTAINMENT all the time.

    Regards.

I'd recommend something like entertainment as high performance will drastically affect battery life.

Entertainment is going to be fine for videos. If you're on quiet office or the other more aggressive power saving profile, you'll see some throttling for sure, Asus power saving profiles can be pretty aggressive.

Make sure your fan is clean if you've had the notebook for a while, it might need some cleaning. You can look at the part on how to use canned air in out user guide: Guide to Cooling Down Your Notebook Computer.

Unlikely to be heat when it's fine on AC power but some maintenance never hurts.

Just thought of something else: check the status of hardware acceleration in firefox. If it's disabled, enable it and if it's enabled, disable it and then test again.
