    I want to replace the keyboard and hard drive on my laptop. Is this a difficult task? Also, where can I find a hard drive that is not too expensive

    The HGST Travelstar 7K1000 is nice and inexpensive.
    Newegg has it up with a discount using the promo code: ESCATNP26
    I'm planning to pick one up myself for my current sager build.

    I know nothing about the ASUS UX31a, so I can't help in regards to the installation of the HDD.

    The keyboard if possible is a total strip down of the machine, the SSD (It does not have a 2.5" bay) can be replaced by removing the bottom of the machine.
