Laptop Model - Asus UX32A
OS - Windows 10
All of a sudden for some reason I have started seeing this weird problem in my battery charging. When the power cord is connected the battery icon says "No battery is detected" and the power indicator keeps blinking from orange to green. Also when I check for the battery charge percentage it says "100% Fully Charged"
Now when I pull out the power cord from the laptop, the laptop still works and the battery indicator says "Unknown Remaining" . If this is a battery problem the laptop should have got switched off, but its still working.
And there is one more thing, the laptop won't switch on without power adapter connected. But once its on and if I remove the power adapter it just stays power on with battery. I'm so confused of whats going on with this weird problems. Can anyone help? Please ask if you need more details. Thanks guys.

I too have had battery problems with one of 2 UX32A I have and found that running the battery almost to zero and recharging helped. I was getting an alternate green-red flashing on the power connector. At the moment the battery indicator comes up to 100% (power connector solid green) and then after a while sinks back to around 95% still indicating as charging whereas my other UX32A says not charging at this stage.
The worse case scenario is a battery change may be required. -

What I was suggesting was that you run on battery until it is almost empty and then recharge to see if there is any change to your situation.
Hopefully others will come on with suggestions. Lithium batteries probably are the most mysterious in behaviour especially as they age and problems have just started to manifest themselves. The trouble is they are rather expensive just to try and go to all the trouble of obtaining and opening the PC casing. Ultimately if it was mine I would try another battery.Last edited: Feb 3, 2016 -

Tonio I don't know how you have got on with your battery problem. One thing for sure, running the battery almost to exhaustion certainly improves the charging problem.
Since I have two of these PC's (one with a good battery that charges and stops charging), I swapped the batteries over and proved that battery that never stops charging is faulty. So I am going to fork out for a 'genuine' more expensive replacement. -
Today I changed my battery for a reasonably priced reclaimed battery from a reputable dealer on eBay just to see whether the charging problem was in the battery or the laptop. Eventually the charge cycle concluded and the BatteryBar showed A/C.
The gamble paid off. The reclaimed battery showed a battery wear of 8.5% - the old one was 10.4%. So it seems to have some life left. I have another Asus UX32A where the battery wear is 1.2% and is more than a couple of years old. But it's mostly powered from the mains supply.
One thing is for sure - it is very difficult to find a reputable seller to trust. There are cheap ones and expensive ones out there. Maybe it's best to steer clear of cheap ones especially when one has to go to a lot of trouble to change the battery.
I saw that somebody else reckoned that the battery itself had the charging control built in so it's a possibility that whilst the battery itself may be OK it can be let down by that built in circuit.
After a few hours on the mains I noticed the BatteryBar now shows wear has improved to 7.8%.Last edited: Sep 6, 2016
