The left fan still keeps going off again and again randomly and suddenly turning off. I have checked that I have the 206 Bios, it's not making any sense. I have Windows installed on the SSD using the guide on this forum here. Does anyone know why this is happening or experiencing the same thing? driving me nuts

Have you checked the temperature of the laptop's components. Any laptop will ramp up the fan speed if components get hotter, it's possible the new bios changed the fan profile and that they rev up at lower temps than they used to.

It seems like everyone with the UX32VD has this issue more or less, possibly related to the 206 BIOS update as you say.

That you have Windows Installed on the iSSD shouldn't make any difference.

The issue is that Asus has coded the BIOS/EC-firmware to activate the fans at the instant the CPU temperature is over 50c, and disable them as soon as it's under 43-44c again. This makes the fan do extremely quick bursts while loading web content and such, since the CPU can for an instant hit over 50c while loading only to go back to 38-42c as soon as the page is loaded.

I just found out that it should be possible to downgrade the BIOS using this guide. Not sure if it helps though, since I think the fans weren't perfect in the stock bios either. I'll try the downgrade and report.

I started with 203 and the fan was extremely noisy. I upgraded to 206 and the problem continues even though a bit less, seemingly. Do you think this could be solved in principle with a next BIOS upgrade? I am thinking of returning the notebook to the shop but, apart from the fan noise, I like it very much and would keep it if it is expected that Asus will solve through BIOS. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Dimitar

If enough people complain about the issue in hand then I believe ASUS will issue a new BIOS update for the fix. From what most people can tell its not a hardware issue but a BIOS issue, so an update should be able to fix the problem.

I have the ux31a and the fan (sounds like from the left side) is coming on frequently and very loud with low usage on my laptop as well. Has anyone found a good fix for this yet? Is it possible to edit the BIOS to fix this problem, or has anyone had success sending their laptop in using the Asus RMA system? Thanks.
