    u DVI is Micro DVI, also known as mini DVI.

    u = Mirco.

    There's a little a adapter that will connect to the micro/mini dvi port that will make it a DVI port in which you can connect a monitor.

    Unfortunately, ASUS has not announced that the V1J will come to North America. We will have to further wait and see.

    HDMI is a totally digital video AND audio interface that is backward compatible with DVI (using an adapter) but that supports HDCP and other copy-protection
    schemes and is capable of supporting HUGE screen resolutions - twice the
    vertical resolution of 1080p (i.e., over 2500 lines). It is intended for home
    HD video/audio interface. Google HDMI and you'll find suitable explanations
    beyond this.

    That's a good question and Mosswings pretty much answered it...... the u-DVI basically won't do audio..... or all intents and purposes, that's the only difference the computer user will see. It's being used because a DVI plug is bigger than a VGA plug and one of the biggest things they're trying to do with the systems is make them smaller.. so there's less and less space. a u-DVI plug takes up the space a usb does. So, it can rather easily be redesigned into current chassis' by stealing one of the usb slots (say make the system have 3 instead of 4) and still even keep the vga out in the same spot.

    .... Future models - probably in six months time, should all have full HDMI out

    They haven't announced that yet??? I thought they did. Except that we will be getting the V1PJ or something.
