I just find this review in reviews.cnet.co.uk.
I didn't know that it was already out!

Yeah we did see that earlier,
the review was utter rubbish. -
It's been out for a while, but like many cnet reviews, it leaves me wondering how much of the info can be trusted...
Half the review is more an assessment of SR than the laptop itself. There are also a bunch of things which I don't agree with (the assessment of the latch, the looks, etc.) but those are subjective...it gets worse though.
2. I thought everyone finally agreed that 800MHz FSB and 800MHZ RAM have nothing to do with each other?
Maybe I'm just nitpicking cuz I love the V1 though.
The only thing I liked about the review was that its existence suggests there might be a V1 refresh in the works sometime soon..maybe..hopefully..? -
Sorry. I didn't see it. The guy that reviewed it said that it was ugly, I think he doesn't have good taste!
By the way, do you know if it is coming out the V2J Santa Rosa? -
-
When is the V1 SR coming to the US?
I do agree that the review is utter BS, but then, most Cnet reviews are. -

Don't you later ask why were you banned

Oh that review was already demolished on another 6-page thread.
Don't bring it up again, it's haunting us...

CNET reviews are all utterly horrible. The videos they show for some laptops are even worse (i.e. they say things like "the laptop is big" , "it has a dvd-rom drive, thats always a bonus", "its got a lot of buttons , which is good") and justify why the written reviews seem so bad; no details are given at all ever....

Patrick Y. Go Newbs! NBR Reviewer
Oh my god.... Another horrible Cnet review. The quality of all laptop is so bad that I even wondered whether the editor actually saw the laptop before reviewing. One time, I even saw a review with the wrong photo. Anyway, the ignorance and stupidity of the reviewers is simply laughable.
"Asus could, quite forgivably, have opted for the X3100 graphics adaptor integrated with the new chipset, but it's gone for a slightly more potent Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT chip"
Slightly more powerful? Obviously the reviewer have no knowledge of graphic cards.
Cnet review= trash -
I think I'll wait for some real reviews for V1 and F8, and if they won't please me enough then XPS 1330 should be for me !
-
Just might wait for the V1J refresh and blow a huge chunk of my savings on it.
EDIT: Oh just noticed the matte screen. Why... -
is there any idea on release date for this at all?
i wouldnt mind a matte screen, and i think it looks great all that dark charcoal with some nice chrome bits. -
Don't put too much faith on a review from cnet on a pre-production prototype for a different continent.
Any one of those factors leaves plenty of doubt - the combination pretty much means that everything that review said could be taken as worthless
The previous V1Jp had a glossy screen. Even if Asus did offer a matte screen this time around, I wouldn't be surprised if they still left glossy as an option to configure.
