V1Jp has caught my eye, its not as gawdy as the G1, not as expensive or flashy as the VX2, (which i love, but it screams steal me, and i'd be abit embarressed about carrying that lambo satchel around and stepping into my ford focus lol!) its a discreet little power house.

the dock feature, really, is a main attraction to me because of how i plan to use my computer (desk set up at home with printer, 20inch LCD, Logitech MX rev mouse and some decent keyboard + speakers) so being able to just pop it off the dock into a bag and go out with it is attractive.

however, i dont really want vista business, if im honest. does anyone sell it with Home premium or even ultimate installed? i would really like to make use of the media center functions in home, and i understand business doesnt have that, i dont really want to buy vista ontop of buying a laptop if you get me. im in the UK btw

also SR is imminent but im honestly getting to the point where i cant wait any longer, my current computer (desktop) really is on its death bed, PSU is slowly crippling itself and i doubt im gonna get much more use out of it, maybe a month at best. (and considering the computers worth about £50 i dont want to spend money on it).... i presume there are plans for a SR V1Jp equivalent?

i mean really, if im going to get a laptop (not quite decided yet) something like this will be it, however, i wont have the spondula's to pay for it until the end of may, by which time, hopefully Santa rosa is out. and if its significantly quicker (800mhz fsb, dx10 gpus, hard wired flash for boot roms (robson i believe that was called)) then i think id be an idiot to buy a current V1Jp

there are, Expect them late June/early July. The more popular Asus laptops will be getting a refresh in late may, while the more expensive models will wait a bit longer.

Well the v1jp is basically the lambo with less steroids....Would you rather drive a bentley and use a 5 year old bahemuth or would you rather drive a focus and use a lambo? By end of may you may see one or 2 barebones. You will not see a complete refreshed line of ensemble till back to school if even. Most of the products you see now will last well into the summer which is unfortunate for anyone who sells this stuff becuase people will wait wait and wait.

yeah really this thing has to be bought before october at the absolute latest..preferably 1-2month before so that any early problems that might occur can be taken care off before i go back to university.

i know the waiting game, heh ive been at it for years....you'll always be waiting for the next best thing, but honestly when something is really close it can be beneficial to wait. though i could be computerless any day now...just depends how long the psu in my machine decides to hang on to life.

id imagine the popular asus choices you talk of are the cheaper models... i am definately after high end, my budget could feasibly stretch to the £1700 for the VX2, but the V1Jp with is dock is cheaper and measurably more useful. just looked in the VX2 thread and man it looks nice in black.
