Hi all, I know because I searched that the subject of upgrading a notebooks hard drive has been covered. I still have a question that as yet I have not found the answer for.

Does anyone know what the maximum physical dimensions are of the hard drive in an Asus V1S.

I ask because at the moment 1 terabyte drives on ebuyer are now at a pretty good price - anywhere between about £80 - £150, they even have a 1.5 terabyte drive, they do all seem to be about 10.2 mm high but for some reason 9.6mm sticks in my mind from something I read about a year ago.

Actually while i'm posting this topic I might as well ask, what is the largest capacity hard drive that you have in a V1S and which drive would the experts here recommend for between £90 to £110 from here provided of course they fit inside the V1S. I may have to whip the Hard Drive out tomorrow, measure the drive and check the tray to see if there is any spare space.

    Thanks Guys and Gals

those are 3.5" drives; if the v1s is like the g1s, then only 2.5" drives will fit.

The largest HDD you can get for your V1S is a 500gb drive. And as thalanix said, make sure they are 2.5".

I've ordered the following: Western Digital 250GB 2.5" Hard Drive Scorpio Black SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - WD2500BEKT

Hope it's not a bad choice.

    Hei folks,
what is the max rpm that the 500gb disk should have to go with Asus v1S ?
I note that it should be a 2.5" HDD.

Awaiting eagerly to upgrade the memory on my V1s

You can get a 7200RPM 500GB 2.5" hard drive. 7200 is the max RPM on a 500GB HDD.
