I'm looking to buy the Asus V1S-B1 laptop from exoticPC.

Now, it seems to do well spec wise at all. However, does anyone have anything negative to say about it? Does it run hot or loud? The CPU/GPU stack up really good. I was originally looking at a Macbook Pro priced at $2499 but this laptop at around $1999 kills that.

    Any advice from anyone here?

I want to game on this thing and write papers for school / msn. Gaming, such as TF2 and maybe Call of Duty 4.

Negative: modular battery kills main battery, on virtually all reported instances where a modular battery has been used. Not an issue if you don't plan to use the modular.

There are also (relatively) minor issues with the main battery.

Hot, I think no hotter than others with similar components (but that can mean a bit).

One other thing that people have been complaining is build quality, which seems not to be stellar. But others like the build quality, so it's subjective, really.

If you're looking for an ~2000 15.4 ASUS business laptop, that is. Otherwise, there are options. The HP Compaq business line, for instance.

It does get quite hot, The build quality isnt spectacular, it is quite loud, and the modular battery kills the main battery, Screen brightness isnt to bright, slightly grainy screen (not noticeble unless your looking for it), and colours arnt great on the screen. Battery life isnt brilliant either.

Then again My last laptop was a sony which are generally regarded to have the brightest and most vibrant screens, I feel it had better build quality and was very cool running and quiet though it was 1.83ghz/7400 Vs 2.4ghz/8600 which is a pretty big jump
