    Hello,

I'm new to this site, so I appologize in advance if this has already been addressed, but I am having problems with setting up a dual boot with XP.

I have Vista installed, and have made a partition by shrinking the volume. I've formatted the new partition, but when it comes time t boot off the XP install CD, it says that it could not detect my hard drive.

I've tried hitting F6, but then it wants a floppy with the driver for the hard drive. I don't have a floppy drive, and cannot even find the driver for the hard drive. It's the 160GB 5400rpm that ships stock with the laptop. In the device manager, its called "ST9160821AS". How would I load it so that XP will find my hard drive???

Any help would be much appreciated.

Also take care about not killing the Vista booting mechanism... usually older (Microsoft) operating systems will overwrite the boot settings of newer ones since they don't recognize them. It's usually better to install older first, then newer.
