Hey everyone, I am kind of thinking about upgrading my notebook and I was looking into the Asus V2S-A1. I really like the computer, however, I was wondering if there was an equivalent Asus notebook that you can customize more or less. There are some things that I don't need that comes with the notebook that I don't really want to pay for. All suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks! :)

The S96S is 15" but otherwise it's similar. It doesn't have the carbon fiber or magnesium alloy in the chassis, or the business features, but other specs CAN be similar, should you choose them.

Thanks for the info. I want to keep screen size 14" or less as one of the driving reasons for a new notebook is to get something smaller and lighter. Where did you order yours from? It looks like you got an excellent price on it?

The ASUS S37s is another option.

I'd hurry if you want to hop on the deal I got. MilestonePC will be ending it when they receive the notebooks, and that's 2 days away. :)

That is a nice machine as well. Only thing I couldn't handle on a 13.3" screen is the 1280 x 800 resolution. That is the main reason I want to go with 14", just because I can get 1440 x 900, which will give me a bit more real estate I do appreciate the suggestion however! :)

Thanks for the link. That is a pretty good deal. I also like that the HD is upgradeable to 7.2k rpm . I may have to think about that deal, but I will probably end up waiting. I am not in urgent need for a notebook as I do have one functioning fine. I've also been considering the Sager NP2090, but I really what like to get a screen smaller than 15.4" this time around.

    Thanks for the link! :)

What about the F8SV-A1? It seems to be the same...just not business class. Is this correct???

More or less. It has a more powerful GPU, but the build quality will be less solid than that of the V series.

Thanks. Someone mentioned in another thread that the V series is also slightly smaller. Looks like I'll have to do a little digging.

I'm also thinking in buying the Asus V2S (V2S - 4S023E) , but the version that is available in my country (Portugal) is a bit better... It has a Nvidia 8600GT with 512Mb (I don't no if it is GDDR2 or GDDR3), and a Intel Core 2 Duo 7500 (2.20GHz) processor.

Basically it has the same specifications of the V1S available in Portugal (V1S - AS004E), but has a smaller 14,1'' display.

Does someone no another country, maibe also in Europe that has the same version of V2S (V2S - 4S023E) ??? I'm searching for a review of it...
