I've just taken delivery of my shiny new V6, hmmmm! []
It looks great, but I'm a bit concerned about two things;
The CPU (1.73 Dothan) temp idles around 50C, and when I play WoW it shoots up to 72C+!! Is that safe?!
Memory freq; RightMark v3.47 says that the 512mb ddr2 (533Mhz) is running at 88.71Mhz(!), and CPU-Z says its running at 199.5Mhz(!). Which sounds right? Surely these numbers should read 533Mhz!!
Should I be contacting Asus about this? Help, please!

The temps look normal to me... however, the RAM thing is a little fishy. I'm thinking that perhaps the RAM is throttling down its speed, OR one of the sticks of RAM is slower than the other.
Very peculier...however, I wouldn't be too worried about it. That's better than getting a lot of BSODs...
Enjoy your new toy []

That sounds about right to me, so I wouldn't be worried at all.
Its very normall temps for PM cpus and also for asus notebooks.
Enjoy your new V6, that is one sweet lappie

As for memory speed, does sound a bit weird but then I have heard reports that cpu-z doesnt fully support the new sonoma chipset yet, so maybe its a software problem?
Also I think you have to times the numbers by 2 so cpu-z is saying its running at 400Mhz, but then I'm guessing maybe someone with more expertise on memory speeds will be able to help you out better...sorry

Thanks for the posts guys, you've eased a worried mind! [^]
I've downloaded Everest too, and that reports the mem as 200Mhz. Which means I've got DDR2-400, not 533. That'll teach me for not paying full attention to the spec sheet![:I]
Thanks again, I'm off to play with my new toy now! []

Hi matWaddy,
hope you will read this, i had a question:
i saw an earlier posting from you, in which you were in doubt about buying the w3v or v6. i'm in that position now, and i will use it for the same programs as you. why did you decide to buy the v6 and not the w3?
Asus V6, should I be worried?
