I am torn between the V6J and the W3J. I like the fact that the W3J has a better video card. However, I only play games occasionally (call of duty 2) so I dont know if I would ever need a X1600. I havent played any computer games in a few years because of my poor performing desktop. However, if I had a good notebook I would start playing them again. Even when I did play computer games it was a twice a week thing.

Im in college, I do mostly web surfing and writing papers.

One thing I do need is battery life. Will the W3J's battery life be signficantly different when compared to the V6J? Would heat be significantly different?

I also like both regular and wide screen if that helps.

Isnt the warranty for the V6J different from the W3J? I thought the V6J came with Zero dot policy whereas the W3J doesnt. I also thought the V6J came with an international warranty and the W3J didnt.

Is the build quality the same? I heard Justin saying that he preferred the V6J because the palm rest was made of aluminum(I think) so your hands didnt wear it down like it does on the W3J which doesnt have aluminum.

The decision is soooo hard. I hate the fact that if I decide to go with the W3J I could be waiting another month (or more) whereas the V6J could be here at the end of next week!

    Any comments/ideas?

I believe they'll both come with an international(global) warranty. However, the V6 series does come with Zero Bright Dot guarantee...the W3 series does not offer that.

Honestly, I think you're probably more suited for the V6J...something tells me the W3J will run a little (well, noticably) warmer.

I would say depends on what kind of setting you would like to play in. x1600 would let you play in high setting, while 7400 will let you play in medium setting. Since you don't game much, I would go with v6j unless budget is your concern.

If you know you will be gaming alot, then get w3j, there's no other light and thin laptop with x1600 256mb :D

For what it's worth, I agree that the V6J seems more suited for you. If you're only going to be gaming occassionally, I'd forego the extra GPU power (W3) for the better screen (V6). Just my two cents :)

I am in the same boat.

However i think the V6J screen is a little too big for me as i need a portable notebook. Shame really as it's a really nice machine!

I'll probably go with the W3j

Scoot over and let me near the side, i get sea sick. :D

I'm leaning w3j at this point stricly on size, that could change though if we dont get some news soon, all the silence is makin' me nervous.

I actually was talking to a pilot yesterday at the airport, and he has a V6J and loves it. Says he has no issues traveling with it either. Hope this helps.

While I don't doubt the V6j is a great system, at this time, its no longer an option for me. If I wanted the nice V6 appearance and thinness, the V6va is a better unit with rebate and the IPS screen.

Therefore, its the W3j for me. Or...wait until some of the CeBit units come to market and buy one of those instead.

Actually, I don't think the V6J has the IPS screen that the previous V6va had, so that may influence your decision.

    The V6j indeed doesn't.

Regarding the size, note the V6 series is just as thin, and only a few inches taller(more screen space) then the W3. At the same weight. Just another perspective :)

For your purposes, I would recommend the V6J.

It has a weaker graphics card, but that may also let you squeeze some more battery life from it. It has the zero bright dot policy, although it most likely wouldn't make a difference anyways. And as others have said, the palmrest won't wear down nearly as much because it's aluminum and not painted.
