    Hi everyone,

I'm in need of some help to try and source a replacement VGA card for my VX7 as my one has died (according to ASUS customer support center) I've already pulled my laptop down so need one ASAP.

Can someone please link to me to some sites from where I could purchase one from? Also, a couple questions:

    - Does the PN number have to be the exact same as my original card?
    - Can another card be used if I can't find original replacement?

    My PN is: N1NVG1100-A02

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

"Compatible" replacements (as opposed to an identical replacement) are kind of hearsay as far as actual compatibility goes. Often times, the firmware inhibits you from putting in a different model video card.

A quick search pulled up this: http://www.californiacomputer.com/asus-60-n1nvg1100-a02

You may be able to find one or more on eBay. The pickings look slim, though.

Yeah, I've found a couple cards on eBay stating that they are for the VX7 but appear to be a better card. Still researching to see if anyone has gone from a 460M to a 560M.

This was the original error message that would show up every time the graphics card was used:

"nVidia Windows Kernal mode driver, version XXX has stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

Have you ever encountered that mate?

Sure, on several occasions. Sometimes it's a bad driver, but if it happens frequently - especially during 3D tasks - then it could be the card on its last leg.

Have you considered a reflow or a reball of the card? They're usually temporary fixes, but could save you quite a bit of money.

Fair enough. My laptop was literally brand new and was only used less than a dozen times before the error started showing up.

Nah haven't considered doing that as I've just ordered a new card off an eBay seller I was in talk with. Get the card in a few weeks so will update here on how the swap goes.

Initial tear down of the VX7 was surprisingly easy.
