If you know what you are doing, you can scavenge for vista drivers from
ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/ -
Weird, all works now. I'm most interested in atk100 for the w7j in vista. Let me try it out in a while...
-
-
Anyone managed to get P4G and spendid to work with Vista?
They install fine, but won't load at startup -
~ Brett -
No they are not...they are in the registry
i guess i need to wait for a bios update, if ever ASUS releases one for the V6J ><; -
Which one is P4G and hcontrol?
-
~ Brett -
hcontrol is akt100 i think...
-
-
They did
Power4Gear Vista
ATK_Hotkey UTILITY for Vista
ATKDrv UTILITY for Vista V1043.2.31.100
ASUS ATKOSD2 UTILITY for Win Vista
ATK_MEDIA Utility for Win Vista
Windows BIOS Flash Utility for Win Vista
That should cover most of it
Ken, move it to the list.
Can we have this thread stickied? It can be helpful to those looking for vista drivers.
Thx -
Here's the Vista version of the Toshiba bluetooth stack, not the XP 64-bit version.
Bender, I don't recognize some of those from my W3J drivers. Specifically, what are the ATKDrv UTILITY, ATKOSD2 UTILITY, ATK_MEDIA Utility?
~ Brett -
The ATKDrv is your usual ATK0101 driver and the ATKOSD2 is a nice update for the OSD that appear when you press the asus function keys Fn+F2. The ATK_MEDIA i think is for the media buttons that are on sides of the W3J keyboard.

Thanks,
~ Brett -

-
Doh, too late!!! Im back with XP now!
-
thanks a million hope to work on my a8jm thanks man you are a godess
-
wow great thread thanks waiting till this weekend to install Vista on my A8JP.
-
So does this mean that it's the right time for me to upgrade my W3J to Vista?
-
I see most of the W7j vista drivers are out too. YAY =D
-
~ Brett -
Yup. Scavenged ASUS ftp. lol
-
Got Power4Gear working, oddly enough, the battery saving mode seems to be less efficient...
-
Is this maybe a function of Vista being a little more power hungry in general? -
Does P4G icon show up in the taskbar?
-
Anybody here know if the ATI driver posted on that list or the one posted on the download page for the A8JR (the A8JR download page has all Vista stuff) supports the X1700???
The only driver that I know of supporting the X1700 is the one on the Asus download page for the A8JP. -
-
Anyone got the sound and mute controls on the laptop side of a W7J to work in vista?
-
Answered own question.
Install this and OSD + sound volume control works:
ATK_0100 for Vista (Thanks to BENDER) -
-
-
Wow, another question... do we W3J owners still need (another) BIOS update (later than ver. 2.10) for Vista to run correctly?
-
ASUS released yesterday vista drivers for x1700 f3jp...
-
will these drivers work on the the w3j? Also can someone please categorize which drivers will work on the w3j since asus hasn't posted any vista drivers on their site.
-
We have to wait for Brett's report... I do plan to install Vista along with those drivers, but I don't want to mess with my currently working W3J... Maybe I need to swap the internal harddrive with a blank/unused one to try Vista. Just don't have the installation CD yet.
-
Drivers & Utilities that would work with the W3J:
- Intel INF Update Windows XP/Vista 32/64
- ATI Radeon Vista 32/64
- Synaptics TouchPad Vista 32/64
- Realtek Audio Vista 32/64
- Realtek Modem Vista 32/64
- Realtek LAN Vista 32/64
- Wireless Console Vista 32/64
- WLAN 3945 Vista 32/64
- Asus NB Probe Vista 32
- TPM Vista 32
- Power4Gear Vista
- ATK_0100 for Vista
- ATKDrv UTILITY for Vista V1043.2.31.100
- ASUS ATKOSD2 UTILITY for Win Vista
- ATK_MEDIA Utility for Win Vista
- Windows BIOS Flash Utility for Win Vista
- Toshiba Bluetooth for Vista
Refer to the first post for the links -
ASUS ATKOSD2 UTILITY for Win Vista
Doesn't work for me on my W3J. Able to install but not able to click at the bottom part of the screen after that...after I uninstalled it everything is fine again...hmm.. -
It needs a bios update to iron out those pesky bugs
-
Ok. Thanks for the effort!
Just to inform other W3J users in case they panic when they realise they cannot click anything at the bottom half of the screen after that utility. =) -
Does anyone know which vista drivers the M5Ae needs?
-
Thank you for all the drivers posted on this thread. i was able to purchase a windows vista ultimate oem and planning to intall it to my asus laptop today. One thing i noticed is that UAA drivers are not included from the download list. Are this drivers included on the windows vista dvd? or do i have to download?
-
-
I just installed home premium. Does anyone know if notebook hardware control will work on vista? I've installed p4g but I miss all the extra features. Also, it seems that my battery life is less with vista. Is this inevitable or has anyone been able to retain similar battery life as with xp. Thanks again for all the drivers!
-
I personally think that Vista will soon start to close the gap as applications such as power4gear become more compatible with vista. Right now, its pretty buggy. I know atm Nvidia doesn't support PowerMizer for my card (7700 Go). I get about 30~ mins more battery life in XP compared to Vista.
