A few questions. How long do you think they will have the upgrade..I have an Asus W5F. Do you think they will have it long enough so that when a SP1 were to come out I could get it then? Also can you run Microsoft Office 2003 on Vista ? Thanks!

You can run Office 03 on vista, but I VERY much suggest the new 07, even on XP.. it's a giant leap forward in productivity...

Service Pack 1 for Vista will likely surface by November.. I think before launch they already had a date set because they were talking about how there were a lot of things they simply didn't include in the release because they just didn't have time. The current OS is really stable as is and if you're looking to upgrade, there really is no need to wait unless you have programs you know won't work with Vista yet.... there are updates about once a week now and as long as you update, that's what's included in the service pack editions... so it's not like there will be something NEW in 9 months that will make you regret doing the upgrade now..

Well, first of all, even the models that were eligible for the free upgrade, aren't any more. The program ran from 10/26 until I believe 03/07 or maybe 03/15... but we're already at the 23rd....

If you bought the computer before march 15th, you can still fill in the upgrade form until march 31st.

One quick note regarding MS Office 2003 vs 2007 and Vista. If you are using a PDA or Smartphone, the Vista version of Active Sync (Windows Mobile Device Center) Doesn't recognize Outlook 2007 yet, so you will be unable to sync your calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. You can, however, install all of Office 2007 except outlook, and then just use Outlook 2003 to get around the issue.

Wasn't meant to be rude. Was meant as a compliment - it was good advice and it was good to have it stated.

Dancebabe, I wouldn't be too excited about installing Vista anyway. Performance on the W5F will take a major hit. But it does have sexy graphics.

You could turn those sexy Aero graphics off, and that will help speed things up, but battery life will reportedly still be less than with XP.
