From the various comprehensive threads on this subject, I believe the earlier W2s were shipped with them but they do not work with microsoft MCE, which all U.S. spec W2s are shipped with. Later shipments will not have the mini-remote.

No shipments will have the credit card remotes as Asus has requested those be removed from the boxes as not to confuse anyone... those remotes only work with asus' mobile theater software (which sucks) and doesn't work with the same tv tuner that MCE does....

What was said by Asus is that future shipments may not include a carrying case or a remote and reciever.... period..... This is the MCE remote that we had to replace in the W2 shipment we got, but apparently they aren't accesible right now by Asus, so they may offer them as optional accessories down the road. We don't know if this is how things are really going to go, but Asus is looking to shave about $50-100 off the unit, their cost.... so the remote, reciever, carrying case would be the first to go to bring that cost down.
