    Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement battery for an Asus W2V? I'm looking for an OEM fitment one - don't want a generic one.

    Thanks!

That notebook is quite old, finding an original battery replacement that is not itself dead because of sitting on the shelf for years, is going to be difficult. They are likely to be sitting on the shelf because the notebook has been EOL for a long time.

That being said, you can look at the ASUS eStore and on the websites of the resellers listed in the Info Booth. They may sell it to you.

One option is to get a 3rd party battery, with the advantage that it may be newer and therefore less likely to be dead or significantly gone; and the disadvantage that its firmware may not be quite compatible with the notebook (they almost never are, even though they are advertised to be "compatible", there will almost always be little quirks and readings that the battery won't get right).

That's true - I don't mind an aftermarket one, however I want one that fits in the slot - not one of those universal external batteries.

Australian resellers? Otherwise I know at least some of the resellers in the Info Booth ship internationally.

Unfortunately, electronics s tuff in Australia is well overpriced - if it's going to cost much more than ~$150 for a battery, I won't bother, as you mentioned the laptop has been EOL for quite some time.

Really, I'm just hoping for a battery that actually does something. Even if it's to last half an hour, as long as it's better than a battery which holds absolutely zero charge... :p
