I recently bought a W2 from eBay and it arrived the other day. The sticker says it is model W2U00VC, presumably the W2VC.

What are the differences between this and the W2VB that most seem to have.

I'm taking it back to Australia, if that helps.

    Cheers

    Steve

"VC" comes with XP Pro and Asus mobile theater and a hybred tv tuner

"VB" comes w/ XP MCE and an analog tuner

Does the 'VB' come with the sticker saying W2U00VC on the protective plastic?

Because mine has Windows MCE, and when I popped the back there is taped wire in the tuner compartment.

Oh, you... you must have bought a unit from the first batch. VC models came over here and when they got to us we saw they didn't have MCE on them and their tuners didn't work when we installed MCE on them. Asus took them back to their US office and loaded MCE and an analog tuner and shipped them back out. You have the benefit of the VB model, but the serial is VC......

Thanks again Justin, although I would have preferred the original one with the hyrid tuner.

Unless I have lost it already, it didn't come with a remote. Presumably any of the Windows MCE remotes will work with it?

    Cheers

Well, the US office quickly took out those tuners when we told them they were in there..... I have some but they don't work with MCE and MCE is the center of that notebook... it's the biggest reason they were changed out.

You bought it off ebay....... go somewhere and buy an MCE remote... you need to use the USB reciever that'll come with the remote for it to work.
