hey guys,
got an asus w2w that likes to crash anytime after 24 hours of constant on time - torrent on it.
i am convinced it is the pos ati 2600 that is causing the problem. it can happen at idle on the desktop, watching hdtv, whilst gaming...its soo frustrating. updating drivers doesnt help the cause - altho i may need newest ati drivers if there are any? please help with that.
my error logs are full of the ati display driver failing to respond, and the windows vista logs are pointing at graphics hardware failure.
any ideas? is this common?
cheers!

I'd just like to eliminate overheating first. Did you clean up your notebook recently? Otherwise, what are the temps of the GPU?
If it's not because of overheating your hardware may indeed be failing.
I"m not sure about modded ATI drivers, someone around will know though. -
It only a few months old - I will try and give it a clean out and see if that helps.
All ATI gear I have owned has done this...crashes and lock ups and the drivers are crap!!!
What is a good program to tell GPU temps?
Cheers! -
Riva Tuner for ATI i think.

I got it back after a month.
They replaced my mobo and it has only crashed once since I got it back 4 days ago.
But I finally resolved the problem tonight... I keep getting the BSOD because, as I suspected, my video card has been overheating. I found this fix on one of the forums where I:
1) go into System Configuration
2) under the 'Boot' tab
3) go to Advanced Options
I checked the boxes under number of processors and maximum memory and set it to max. Now, my video card has been running a lot cooler (it's not even that hot anymore on the keyboard/surface of the machine. So far it has been running quite well.
Will update should this option fail to work. Thanks guys
