Hey Guys I have an Asus W3J, the newer generation Duo Core 2, and I cant seem to get it to go up to 1080p only 1080i which means it wont do 60 hz at 1920x1080 only 30 hz. I am using Vista which is probably pretty important and outputting via VGA. I know VGA is capable on my set because my xbox360 has no problems displaying 1080P over the same cable. So I assume it is a driver problem. Does any one have the proper video drivers that can go high-def?

720p and 1080i/p can only be streamed through component/DVI/ HDMI....
Also, the VGA HD of the 360 actually output 540p converted to 1080i from what I saw(the x360 does not support native 1080i/p)

VGA is perfectly capable of displaying 1080 resolutions. -
it can only out put from ur video card @ 1080i.... i dont' know much about i/P thing though.

The VGA out on the Xbox 360 can be used for 1920x1080 (1080p) video out, as far as I know. And VGA can do 1080p, definitely. I was doing 1080p out on my old Vostro 1500 through VGA....
Maybe its something wrong with your TV's settings? Sometimes that screws things up... -
i'm looking for Asus F-5 sries

Well it couldnt be my TV because the resolution is controlled by the device eg my xbox 360 displays 1080p... although i think the manual lists that vga cant do it ( i have a sharp aquos LC-42D64U. Anyone here have W3J and can confirm if its (1080p) capable? It definately works on 1080i (1920X1080 @ 30 hz) but it wont go up to 60 hz (progressive)

It actually displays Interlaced when I try and change the video rate... Someone help! Could it be because I'm running Business and not Ultimate or Home Premium? It's strange that Business doesn't include MCE. Anyone with W3J Care to confirm that their laptop can display 1080p and not up to 1080i?

Anyone have an answer?

try getting the newest omega drivers( www.omegadrivers.net) if your running Windows XP. This is the only way to run the newest ATi drivers since Asus never updates their drivers, and well, ATi isn't allowed to supply us with them...

do you have a dual boot of xp? try it there and see if that works.
