Just ordered my Asus W3J, and it looks like they've still got em in stock. Get em while theyre hot.
go go go!

BTW if you are unfamiliar with newegg, they are top notch.

www.shopdatpcstore.com also appears to have them in stock. At least I hope they do, as I ordered one from them earlier today. Trouble is that the number they have in stock, according to their website - 10 - hasn't changed, and they won't pick up their phone.
-
I got an E-mail alert from Newegg also. They do appear to still be in stock. Keep in mind that this could be one of the last shipments of the W3J with the Yonah processor.

According to ProPortable, the W3J will likely be one of the last Asus models to start shipping with the new Merom.

If i can beam them through one of those startrek transporters they would have been here today

Does all this means there won't be any more W3Js available for a few months now?
does anybody know When will the next shippment be?
I'm holding my purchase until late september/early october, because I want to see how things evolve regarding the implementation of Merom. And also now the group educational buy. -

Doubt you will see merom in them before the end of this year

I just got off the phone with a sales rep (Tina
) at Asus and asked her when we would see W3J's on the shelves or on the internet with Merom. I was told October almost for sure. Asus is pretty cool - I just went to their site, found a number and was on the phone with an English-speaking person who knew all of the terms I threw at her in less than a minute. She even suggested that I buy a laptop now and drop my own chip in (with a BIOS update) though she confirmed that doing so would void the warranty. That was perhaps the best computer-related call I've ever been on... cool.

Its a hit or miss with asus. Teena is by far the best and most available rep there i ever dealt with. Though her estimate of october is almost impossible. Just look at the history of events. It takes them 2-3 months to release new products once they are made available on the market. Even if they do it in 1 month merom will not be in abundant supply till end of this year. eta is for early october on short order. Thats just an eta. Call be a negative person but i dont like to give people false hopes. You can expect merom in bto notebooks in october. There is no way ensembles will have them earlier or at the same time. If that happens it will be the first in the history of asus laptops

I NEED MY FALSE HOPE!!!

Well in that case you gonna love me. Asus just developed an lcd lid which charges your battery under any light conditions. The solar panel on the lid is so effective that by it self it can power the laptop under low usage conditions. The model will be IOTP (I own this patent). Well i would but it has already been developed by someone somewhere. Dunno why its not integrated yet.

give me some false hope that they'll throw in a DVI port with the merom upgrade

Only with the next w3m or something. Not in this architecture. Currently the f3j and a8j and a6j have dvi. A6j discontinued.
