Is the Asus Instant Fun Application (also known as Direct Media, InstantOn, or Instant ON) available and/or compatible with the Asus W3J notebook?

I currently own an Asus W3J notebook and am only aware of its ability to play audio cd's without booting into the O/S. From my own experience (and according to the documentation provided with my W3J) the W3J cannot play DVDs or MP3s without first booting into the O/S (Windows XP).

Being able to play audio cd's without booting into Windows O/S is nice, but it would be even better to have the ability to play DVD's as well. I noticed the other day that the Asus W1Jb notebook computer has a nifty little program called "Instant Fun" which claims to be capable of playing DVDs and music as well as display photos and video without booting into the operating system.

Check-out the following website to see what Asus claims the "Instant Fun" application is capable of on the W1Jb:
    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=1228&l1=5&l2=22&l3=123

    Description directly from the website:
One touch entertainment enjoyment is now all at your fingertips with the exclusive Instant Fun feature that allows access to multimedia applications without entering the OS, combining digital home applications into a user-friendly PC environment.

It seems to me that if Asus can get this program to work on one of their notebooks, they should be able to make it work on others rather easily (as long as they are willing to put the effort into it). I have to admit I'm not that hopeful though because from my past experience with an Asus motherboard, once Asus releases a product to the public, the drivers and software for that product do not often get updated/upgraded unless there is a specific bug that needs to be fixed. Adding the "Instant Fun" application to additional notebooks would definitely not be considered a bug fix! If anything, it would probably just increase their tech support costs, which is the last thing they're looking for! Oh well, I can always dream...

Nope, but there are some models that 'can', the W1 the only one I know of.

The A8 series actually has buttons for the Instant Fun options, but it was never added(Though it was advertised?!), and so far A8 users still don't have answers if it will ever be implimented.

I would think the Instant Fun client is a small Linux OS implimented into the BIOs.

Same here on the A8JP. More a bug than a feature. If you hit the button for this feature, Windows starts and just open ups the Media player.
