I have an asus W3J and the tv-out connector clearly has more pins than are needed for a simple s-video connection. Add to this that the mobility x1600 natively supports component output and you would think that the W3J should be able to do this, right?

Well, I plugged in a YPrPb cable that came with my desktop GPU (since the W3J did not come with one). The pins and notches match perfectly, but when I plug it into my TV, CCC only detects the display as a standard TV via S-Video. In fact, the picture being put out is 4:3 1024x768 max and is black and white (only one of the three component cables is actually carrying a signal)

This makes no sense to me. If there are that many extra pins on the TV-out port, there must be a way to do component output, right? What gives? Anyone else have any experience with this? Could the fact that I am not using the Asus-provided video drivers have anything to do with this? I was really hoping to be able to use my W3J for Hi-Def output so that I can play back HD recordings from my Media Center PC without having to haul the entire desktop downstairs :(
