Biggest difference between them is the graphics card. The w3j comes with an x1600 (dedicated gpu) and the Toshiba comes with integrated graphics. If graphics aren't an issue for you, you should probably consider the Toshiba. As far as looks and build quality are concerned you are probably better off with the w3j. The w3j isn't available in the states yet, so if you need it within the next 3 weeks it may not be an option for you.

We'll give you biased opinions here, but a full review of either has yet to appear, so we can't say based on specs on paper

if you want a machine that's comparable, you should look at the m100 which has the x1400. if you're talking about speed, if they are configured the same, they should perform similarly. the biggest difference between these is graphic performance (the x1600 is much more powerful than the x1400) and build quality. the asus is better assembled and more durable.

actually, there have been at least 2 reviews done on the m100 thus far. it is essentially the m105 except that it's configurable on the toshiba website.

i have found sites where i can get the asus W3J so i believe i can get it now. please tell me if the site arent for the US http://www.powernotebooks.com/product.php?itemId=1371

    and another at www.agearnotebooks.com

graphics isnt that big of a deal but since i plan on keeping this laptop for 4+ years i believe it will be later in the line. The reason why i keep wanting the w3j is because of the durable long lasting time it has. but for the toshiba m100 and toshiba m105 what is the differnce between those two?

you should give those companies a call b/c as far as anyone on this forum knows, the shipment of w3j has not yet reached the united states. they might have these up for pre-order and might note have listed it as such. also, if you read above, we've mentioned the difference between the m100 and the m105.

Toshibas at least most are very poorly built. while i agree if you dont need the graphics power of the W3J i think there are better choices than a toshiba you get what you pay for.

Toshiba's really aren't all that bad. They hold up to abuse surprisingly well (we have a customer at work who owns an A60 and I swear he has a rage problem, which frequently gets taken out on his poor laptop. The thing received over $2200 in warranty repairs between like October and February this year alone). If you need something immediately and you don't plan on doing heavy graphics use the Toshiba M100 or M105 would probably be a decent choice. If you can wait a few weeks for the W3J, it's probably worth the wait over the Toshiba, however.

IM speaking more about the models you see at best buy and stuff, some of the others they have are more durable.
