I bought the W3J the week it came out 1.5 years ago... I'm just wondering how many sticks of memory are in it (ie. 2x 512 mb or 1x 1gb?) and how many slots total are there.

Oh and one more question: what kind of memory stick is compatible? DDR2 PC5300 SO-DIMM?

Sorry for knowing little and thanks for the help!

2 Ram slots. You need to check your system either by visual verification or by running a utility (CPUZ comes to mind) to check what your ram configuration is. If it's 1GB it's likely it'll be 2x512mb.

does cpuz tell me if it's 1x1gb vs 2x512mb?

if not, is there any tool that does?

The other way you could tell is to simply pop off the RAM cover underneath and look at the chip :)

Sometimes the BIOS lists memory by slot.

    Yes it does.

Use CPU-Z. It will tell you what memory chip is installed in each of the slots, manufacturer ID, production date, etc etc

Problem is that, if you don't know what your looking at (judging by the user) popping the cover won't do any good. Especially if the other slot is under the keyboard.

    CPU-Z, people. Use it.
