Unused icons may be set to hidden... if you physically don't click on that meter often, it'll hide itself.

Ok, that' a new one to me.... should be there...... actually you could turn it off, so check in the control panel to make sure it's set up to "display on task bar"

Oh, you can change that setting to..... I think it's in there... you can have it "on the task bar all the time" or "on the task bar only when on battery power" .

No problem like that on mine. I just wish the battery had some kind of indicator like you see on the Dell batts. YOu push down on a little button and the leds light up to correspond to the level of charge thats in the batt at that time. My old gateway had it to I think.

No, speedstep should be on from the get go... that shouldn't have any effect on it at all. Well actually it'll effect life, but not appearing on the task bar.

    Hello Teds.

Did you ever solve this problem? This is happening to me as well. The battery indicator stopped showing up on my taskbar altogether. So very annoying..

Maybe try CHC instead of P4G... CHC is a way better power software.

The same thing is happening to me on my W2V so it's not restricted to one model. I don't think it's related to P4G because the battery is a Windows thing but I'd love to have it back too.

It happens on my Dell 700M as well. I am fairly pc savvy and have yet to find out why this happens.

OK, I've finally solved this problem on my system at least. If you want try this:

    1. Right click on "My Computer" and click "Manage"
    2. Expand the "Services and Applications" option and select "Services"
    3. Select "SSDP Discovery Service", right click and select "Properties"
    4. Under "Startup Type" select "Disable"
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for "Universal Plug and Play Device Host"
    6. Restart and your battery meter should be back.

This will disable Windows new hardware wizard that pops up when you connect a plug and play device but I normally cancel this and install through either device manager or the setup program for the hardware anyway.

    Hope this helps,
