Hi, I was looking into the Asus W3V, but i had a quick question regarding it's fan. Is the fan loud? Does it go on often? I'm currently using a Fujitsu S6120D and i found that the fan is on and off quite often. When i start playing games like WoW, the fan just goes insane.

Any help would be great. Thanks

Well, don't expect the fan to be off when playing games.

The fan is tolerable, a soft whirring sound when under heavy usage.

Will i be able to play games while in class? I know my fujitsu is pretty loud and when it turns on, people actually turn around and look at me..

    LOL!

Oh man, you should choose something like the z63a instead. Games in class = nono ;)

The smaller it is, the more the fan goes on because of the limited ventulation and the heat generated, thus, vrroom vrroom.

If you really *must*, a cooler would be a good idea

I used to have the S6120D and now have the W3A. The W3's fan is much quieter - more of a woosh than a whine.

The fan is on all the time I believe... at least with the latest BIOS revisions.
However, it isn't very loud at all... in class, it should be inaudible unless you put your ear at the vent.

Yes, it's on all the time - but so far, when I've been in class, it's definitely the quietest of all the laptops in class... can't hear it unless I actually start doing something that kicks the CPU up - like playing games. Even then, it's not going to turn any heads...

Yeah, I gotta agree with everybody else. While I haven't used it in class yet, the fan is very quiet. The fact that it's on constantly is a non-issue.
