Hey, first post here and all that, but I'm kind of at the end of my rope. I got a palmrest replacement for my W3V And damn does it look and feel nice ... the thing is when I was going to start it back up, I have no backlight ... There is a faint image and it boots fine and all that. Ive plugged in an external monitor and everything works great, so I'm pretty sure its not software and it's not the video card ... I just have no real idea how to fix it, as far as I can see all the connections are seated properly.

Any advice or help would be so greatly appreciated!

    Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forums :
If as I guess, the backlight has been damaged, you should take it to the support and have the light replaced.Nothing can be done in this case.

Id guess the same thing Mujtaba, but I can't see how it was damaged, there is no service center near me ... Basically it's either I fix it or I'm out a laptop ...

    Thank you though.

BTW, have you tried opening and closing the lid while looking at the screen. It might be just the wire gone off dead.
    No problem ;)

Actually that was another part of my question, i assumed maybe the switch or wire to the switch that most laptops have to tell them the lid is closed, had gone dead ... then i remembered if that was the case with the W3v then it wouldn't even boot (it wont turn on if it thinks the case is closed) ... Im just putting it back together now after checking the converter for any faults and finding none ... I'm fairly certain I effectively made myself a very lovely paper weight.

have you made sure that you didn't jar loose any cables that attach the lcd to the notebook?

where are you currently? if you live in the u.s., you could order the screen from the asus e-store. or you can search ebay for a screen to replace the one you have.

IIRC, the switch is somewhere in the hinge. The laptop power button will not turn on the system if the lid is completely closed, but it might start it up if it senses it a bit open.

I would check the hinges to make sure the wire didn't get caught/squished/sliced by anything...
