If you don't like 'experimenting' with dealers there is always Newegg ($6.99 Three Day Shipping).

i heard tigerdirect is pretty good. my friend buy his stuff at tigerdirect and he say they are pretty good.
-
Like bugmenot said I would take a look at newegg. I have ordered a printer and some other stuff from them, and am very happy with the speed of processing and shipping.
I was looking at TigerDirect and it seems like they have a good return policy, but I have also heard some bad stories on this forum about them. I personally haven't used them. -
You'll get much better service from places like DiscountLaptops or ProPortable than NewEgg. That is worth $100 to me. NewEgg require 7+ dead pixels for an exchange and there are no returns.
-
tigerdirect sucks for rebates.. tigerdirect and newegg are about the same price i rather go use neweggs.. i ordered one from newegg before, got 1 dead pixel everything else was fine though.

I've ordered items from Newegg and my experience ranges from "no suprises" to "several phone calls and several day delays". Unfortunately the latter happened with my purchase of a W3V. Seems that it you have a straightforward transaction (and don't fat finger the expiry date on your credit card like I did), things can go smoothly. Once they don't, be prepared for a pain in the butt of order cancelation, and call backs. They have a complicated mix of policies that aren't clearly spelled out.
Also, I've spoken to several people there and I have yet to be able to catch their names. I call, I'm on hold for a bit and then out of nowhere *click* Hi, thanks *mumble* newegg. This is *mumble* How *mumble* you?. They race through that opening line. After several years in customer service myself, I think that the reps are either overworked and taking care of too many transactions per day or they aren't getting any clear supervision/training. Things like the "glib" automated emails (e.g. try the forgot your password one "Now you know" is a bit unprofessional) makes me think it's the latter.
Anyways, not sure if my rant helps. Newegg seems pretty reliable just a bit annoying. -
i just recently ordered my ]laptop from Newegg and everything went smoothly. They triple-boxed my laptop. Also got a free Kensington bag from from too

I wouldn't order a notebook from newegg either...I know some people have good experiences, but it's the customer serivice that would concern me. I would much sooner spend the extra $$ for the customer service improvement and the ability to customize.
Chaz -
Order your W3V from wherever you like, the 7+ dead pixel policy applies from NewEgg to TigerDirect to ProPortable.
No one will do anything for you in terms of a dead pixel on the W3V (that is why ASUS does not offer ZBD, your taking a chance).
p.s. I always order my PC gear from NewEgg and not only is there shipping free, no tax or extra surcharges, but you take delivery in 3 days or less usually.. and thats not service? -
how good of a deal is this for $1599? has it been lower from a reputable dealer?
-
1625 is the actual lowest price not 1599.. thats pretty much been the price since the past month i think.
-
$1599 is not that bad for a complete system with a Windows xp pro. and a 2 years globe warranty. let me think about this if i consider to change a new laptop.
-
Everything sounds good about it except the dead pixel thing.

I've and several people I know have used Tiger Direct with no problems whatsoever. The most recent purchase was an inexpensive laptop for a friend. She was very pleased with the transaction.

DON"T ever buy from Tigerdirect.ca or .com, too many bad stories about them. Here's a list of bad things about them:
Ressellerrating of 3.75
Poor Service
Terrible With Rebates
Usualy out of stock of HOT items
Can and have charged people for weird charges, up to 1000$, no lies! serveral stories out there and its hard to get your money back when they start charging you for weird fees. (this may not happen to you tho)
The positive:
Best prices...
Keeps competition high, resulting in lower prices.
Overal.. if the difference is 50$ or less. comapred to other stores..... Don't fuss over it... really man.. 50$ for a 1500+ laptop is nothing.. and its not worth taking a chance with Tigerdirect.
Also, you will receive ZERO! service from these guys.. if you gots problems they won't do jack... those guys are sooo busy dealing with other people they have no time for you.
Overall i agree with most people here, get from Newegg, or Discountlaptop, or whoever else.
Thanks,
