    sorry for the new thread but I can't find any info on wether this notebook supports sata or pata and if the included hard drive is sata. anyone know? thanks

    I've heard that it is only PATA. Not a big deal for me, personally.

    It's PATA, only the Z71v has SATA compatiablilty in ASUS's lineup.

    As an aside, Danny at CanadaSys did some benchmarking on PATA vs SATA using 5400rpm of both and a 7200rpm PATA drive, and the results show that SATA is only a moderate improvement on PATA for the same speed drive, but the 7200rpm drive blew both out of the water. Results are here, see post #14. Disclaimer: I didn't check out his testing method so I can't vouch for accuracy.
